About Us
RootedSparks was inspired by watching our own children—one in college, one in middle school, and one in elementary school—navigate an ever-changing world. In countless conversations with parents, educators, and mentors, a clear theme emerged: while traditional education does so much, it can’t always cover the life skills young people need to thrive.
RootedSparks is our effort to start early. To help children gradually build the tools that will carry them through a future defined by constant change and growing complexity. From resilience and self-awareness to practical skills and community connection, we believe these foundations matter just as much as academics.
Because when kids are rooted in strength, they’re ready to spark their own potential.

Our Story
Our story started back in middle school, in a small community just outside Seattle, Washington. Even as life took us on different paths, we stayed connected through a tight-knit group of friends from middle school, high school, and college a circle we’re still close to today.
A few years ago, life brought us back together, and we eventually blended our families, raising three kids five years apart. Those decades apart gave us each unique perspectives on the world, parenting, and what the future might look like for the next generation.
Chris’s path led him to Disney, where he spent nearly 20 years in media, analytics, strategy, and operations. A lifelong learner, he earned a Finance degree and an MBA from Washington State University and graduated from UC Berkeley's Chief Analytics Officer program in 2023.
Kristin has always been passionate about education and hands-on, meaningful learning. Inspired early on by Waldorf education, she made dolls and natural toys and encouraged learning through nature. As her children grew, she explored different educational philosophies to match their unique needs and interests.
Over time, Kristin became a paraeducator and an active PTA board member. She learned firsthand what was working in education and what wasn’t while building a remarkable network of dedicated educators.
Together, we bring a balance of hard and soft skills—and a shared belief that kids deserve more than just academics. They deserve tools to help them grow with confidence, curiosity, and purpose.
RootedSparks was born from that belief—and our hope that every child feels supported as they learn, explore, and become who they’re meant to be.
